When Is Prom Season?

Planning timelines and what to expect during prom season

Prom season in the United States typically runs from March through June, with the peak falling in April and May for most schools.

For junior and senior proms, the event usually takes place in the spring semester — late April through early June in most regions. Southern states tend to run slightly earlier, with many Mississippi and Texas schools holding prom in April.

The earlier you start planning, the more options you have. Custom formalwear like Malik Alexander pieces requires a minimum of two to three weeks for production and delivery after measurements are confirmed. That means ordering no later than four to six weeks before prom night.

A smart planning timeline looks like this: Six months out, decide on your budget and general direction. Three months out, choose your piece and begin the commission process. Six weeks out, confirm measurements and lock in your order. Two weeks before prom, your piece arrives and you try it on. The week of prom, final preparations and transportation planning.

Parents who start early avoid the panic and the compromise. Waiting until the last month limits your choices significantly — especially for custom commissioned pieces that require lead time.

The Malik Alexander commission process is designed to be fast and precise. Text us your measurements, confirm your details, and your piece ships within two weeks. But we always recommend starting the conversation at least six weeks before your prom date.
